Mac Users Are Immune From Spyware: Myth Or Fact?
There are many Mac users who have no time to listen to Spyware stories. They believe that they are totally immune to any Spyware danger. But is this true? Is this fact or just a myth?
Admittedly the Mac structure is very different from that of the PC which means that a PC spyware strain will not be as effective with Macs. Meaning that somebody has to create a spyware program targeted exclusively at Macs. But even then there would be another problem. It is estimated that less than 3 per cent of the computers linked to the World Wide Web are Macs which would ordinarily use the Mac Operating System (Mac OS). What this means is that every time the spyware virus tries to spread it wil find that more than 97 per cent of the computers they come across would be PC or non-Mac computers.
This is one of the reasons why Mac spyware tends to spread at such a low rate. But the truth is that Mac owners too need to protect themselves against spyware and indeed we have plenty of decent Mac-based anti-spyware software in the market these days.
Then Mac users need to consider another terrifying possibility that will sooner or later hit the web. And that is spyware software capable of adapting to affect both Microsoft Windows and Mac OS. Actually security experts have been warning about this possibility for a long time now.
If you are a Mac user reading this, it is advisable that you get out of your false sense of security as quickly as possible so as to avoid disaster in the future.
